Feb 26: On Not Having Enough Sleep

Kickstarting March with an update on February.

Began the month with a short getaway to A’Famosa. I was last here as a child, so I only have vague memories of the place.

I must say it was better than I expected.

It was also memorable for me because we had dinner at a roadside Tom Yum spot one night. That’s the first time we’ve ever done that. I loved it, but I don’t think the rest of them will be in a hurry to repeat it :)

Khayra had a rugby friendly. I’m not sure if she still enjoys it as much as she once did, but for as long as she wants to, I’ll keep waking up early to drive her to weird places around KL.

Finished one last early-morning run before the fasting month. I probably need a break because I’ve had quite enough of the Wadi Ehsan flyover. I really need to start running elsewhere.

Chinese New Year festivities were rather subdued this year. My parents are very allergic to KL, so they were only here for slightly more than 24 hours.

Because my kids' interactions with my parents are very touch-and-go, my mother-in-law shapes their entire worldview.

Because of that it looks like they're going to be the same as me - I, too, have very little connection to my father’s side of the family.

Anyway, one-third of Ramadan down, two-thirds to go.

I love that I can have dinner at a normal time during Ramadan (because we usually have it way too late for my liking), and I love the trips to the mosque (because that's my alone time).

On the other hand, I'm really not digging the lack of sleep.

This year, we did the friends' iftar early.

There are more of us, I promise.

Planning to avoid other iftars if I can help it. I'm in even less of a mood to socialise when I'm sleepy.

Before I close out this chapter on February, I'd like to just say something very random:

Big Ben

Benjamin Šeško is an absolute master.

May he continue scoring for many years to come.

OK bye.
