May 25: On Taeyeon, Anti-Social Behaviour and the Red Devils

I'm having the mother of all post-concert depressions.

I finally got to see Taeyeon in the flesh.

Definitely worth the four-hour drive to Singapore.

A shame about my aging phone though. The videos I took didn't really capture reality, but it's OK as the entire show is up on YouTube anyway.

Besides that, we took the opportunity to visit USS.

But I reckon the kids were generally more excited to be hanging out with my sister.

Oh, but Singapore was good. Driving in is even easier than it used to be. Parking was a bitch but that's the price to pay for having good public transportation.

It's actually quite a nice place to be but only if you're there for short periods at a time. I'm even beginning to think it's easier to find halal Chinese food over there compared to here.

On a completely different note, I actually went to an open house and hung out with some friends. This is worthy of mention because it's an achievement for an anti-social like myself.

The anti-socialness came out during my eldest daughter's sports day, though. I found a peaceful corner in a classroom and took a nap while the events were in full swing. I don't think the other parents know I'm Khayra's dad - and I think it should be kept that way.

I didn't miss Khayra's events though. I've always thought she was rapid but I now know for sure that she's quick for her age group. I'm super proud.

It's possible she got her running genes from me, although I sincerely hope she ends up more photogenic than I am because what in the hell was I trying to do here?

In the second half-marathon I ran this month, I didn't even see where the photographer was - so the photo is generic. That Hojlund pose I've been practicing will have to wait.

On a different note, I also got to see Man United in the flesh. I met some of the first team players at Pavilion.

Then on the next day, I went to the stadium to watch their match with the same guys I watched United with back in 2009.

I genuinely think our older selves look better :)

That said, the actual match itself was garbage. A post-season tour is a shit concept. I hope the money they earned was worth the PR disaster it created.

Before I sign off, I'd also like to mention the Bank Negara Museum and Art Gallery. We brought the kids there one weekend and found it to be quite interesting.

Lastly, the local authorities have finally decided to get rid of the great big tree that used to stand in front of the house. It must have been over 100 years old.

It had become a safety hazard and it was probably the right decision to cut it down to size - but I'm still sad to see it go.

Anyway, May was a kind month filled with a lot of nice and interesting things. Even if June turns out to be only half as good, I'll consider it a good month.

Signing off for now.
