Say what you will, but the one thing that cannot be disputed is the fact that the best team won the league this year. Man City displayed all the attributes you would expect of champions. They have been ruthless in dispatching their opponents and overall, I'd say they've generally displayed more confidence throughout the season than the team I support (Man United, obviously).

My personal XI for the season would be:
Vorm, Richards, Baines, Kompany, Koscielny, Parker, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Rooney, Aguero, van Persie

For me, Vorm makes the team over Krul or Hart because he was the only one who didn't have the luxury of having a defensive lynch pin a'la Coloccini or Kompany ahead of him.

Richards was a tough one. Despite the fact that Richards fell out of favour towards the end of the season, I still think he's a touch more reliable than Walker (who most people would probably pick).

Baines gets the left-back slot hands down. Jose Enrique had an excellent first half of the season, but was anonymous in the second. Assou-Ekotto and Evra were great going forward but were a bit too dodgy for my liking at the back.

Kompany, well, we don't need to talk about him. He. Is. Good.

Koscielny might be a bit of a controversial one, but he improved a lot this season, despite all the comedy going on around him. I also rate him (consistency-wise) ahead of Skrtel, Agger and Evans.

Some people may not like him, but I am a huge fan of Parker. The way he harries around disrupting the opposition's play is priceless. When he wasn't around, Spurs looked like a Championship team, to be honest.

For Yaya Toure, see Vincent Kompany.

Silva was marvellous for most of the season. He is by far the most creative midfielder in the English league. Sad to see him fizzling out a bit towards the end, but he was a joy to watch when he was in his element.

And as for the front three of Rooney, Aguero and van Persie? Can't really argue with the 80 goals scored between them can you?

In any case, I bid a fond farewell to what has been an excellent season. It had everything, didn't it? Already looking forward to the next one!
