Essentials

If ever there was an example I could give that would succinctly sum up my opinion about the department I work for, it would be this.

We're at the height of the coronavirus outbreak.

The government institutes a movement control order which restricts all non-essential activities with a few exceptions, the most pertinent of which being this one below:


And this is the time my department decides to apply a very, very, very liberal interpretation of the word "essential".

So tomorrow, we literally have to risk our lives to get to the office because no one is willing to use their discretion (and basic human decency) to allow us to work from home.

And hey, without the ten of us sitting on that floor, the very existence of Malaysia would be under threat since we're that essential. Right?
