Weekend at Genting

My last trip to Genting approximately 118 weeks ago (according to Instagram) was a short trip up to read the newspapers in the cool air (I was single and bored back then).

Last night was the first proper night I've spent in Genting in absolute ages and the overriding feeling that I got throughout my time there was just how "commercial" everything felt.

Everything there is designed to make you want to go out and spend your money - from the signboards that deliberately lead you to places they want you to - to the drab, soulless hotel rooms (which in my case a window overlooking another room's window).

In many ways, that's understandable seeing as it's the whole complex is a massive casino after all.

And then, there's the crowd. Of course there's the crowd. It seemed like 10% of China had descended upon that little hill.
But where else can you get the super cool weather just 45 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of KL?

That alone is worth the trip up.
