End BR1M

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime

One of the most disappointing aspects of Budget 2016 for me was the increase of BR1M handouts. It is, in my opinion, of the most poorly thought out policies that our Government has ever implemented.

The merits of these handouts are negligible, no matter how hard Abdul Wahid Omar tries to put a positive spin on it.

Ever since it started in 2012, BR1M has been expanded every year in one way or another. That means more and more people are "benefiting" from it. The longer it goes on, the more it becomes an accepted part of life.

I shudder to think what the reaction would be like if we finally get a Government which has the balls to remove nonsensical handouts such as this.
