ASS 2013

Earlier this year, a whole bunch of Malaysians bought tickets to watch Asia Super Showcase 2013. Originally scheduled for 12 May 2013, those tickets did not come cheap. The cheapest came at RM223 while the dearest cost RM453.

On 10 May, ticket holders were told the concert would be postponed until further notice (purportedly due to the "political" situation of the country at the time).

By July, a new date still had not materialized. On 17 July, ticket holders were informed that they could "apply" for refunds between 22 July to 22 August. Quite why people had to "apply" for money that was rightfully theirs is still not clear.

Anyway, months have passed since those "applications" were sent in without an official word from anyone.

Then about a week ago, ticket holders were invited to attend a refund "briefing".

It was during this briefing on 1 December (six and-a-half miserable months since the whole fiasco started) that ticket holders were told that the organisers didn't really have the money to pay the refunds.

On top of that, the organisers made everyone fill up yet another "application" which basically forces ticket holders (by now feeling rightfully cheated) to give them another 18 months to come up with the money.

From what I've heard, the police got involved earlier today and took someone from the organising team away with them. I'm not so sure how that helps the thousands of people who are still owed money but quite frankly there's been nothing but lies and deceit from the moment the concert was "postponed" on 12 May.

An absolute shambles - that's what this is.
