God Gave Physics The Easy Problems

Recent events in Malaysia should be conclusive evidence that the social sciences can never be predictive.

When I began studying again last year, I remember many of my classmates had a somewhat idealistic notion of being able to predict future events by understanding and applying the right IR theory. To be fair, I probably entertained such thought too. Being able to say "I told you so" gives me strange satisfaction for some reason or the other.

But if there is one thing we've should have learnt is that none of us can possibly have a clue as to what might happen next. Not even the suits who appear on Awani every day rehashing the same old stuff for hours on end.

Truly, God gave physics the easy problems.
